Old City Street Closed to Jews Two Hours Daily During Ramadan

Police have notified residents of Jerusalem’s Old City that during Ramadan, Haggai Street heading to the Kotel (Western Wall) will be closed to Jews from 10pm until midnight. Jerusalem officials explain the move is to avoid skirmishes between Jews and Muslims following Ramadan prayer services on the Temple Mount.

Protect the Temple Mount!

Sign the petition: From One Jerusalem

"In light of the Waqf Authority's recent alarming destruction of the Temple Mount, the Editors of One Jerusalem urge you to sign this important petition. We're presenting this petition to US President George W. Bush, Israel's PM Ehud Olmert and others. Thank you!"

Preserve the Temple Mount

For a decade, Muslim religious authorities have participated in the destruction and elimination of precious Jewish and Christian artifacts on the site of Solomon's Temple, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

Thousands of tons of earth, containing archaeological evidence dating back to the period of the Temple of Solomon, were discarded. Among the 'rubble' were ancient seals from a Priestly family, inscribed pottery fragments in Ancient Hebrew, Alter screens and broken columns from a fourth century Byzantine Church.

Since the year 2000, the Muslim religious authority – the Waqf - has blocked all archaeological oversight of the Temple Mount.

Meanwhile, the Waqf continues to construct Mosques on the sacred sites of Jews and Christians.

We believe the international and Israeli media should have unrestricted access to the Temple Mount.

We believe the world-respected Israeli Antiquities Authority be empowered to supervise the day to day activities on the Temple Mount.

Currently, the Waqf forbids any non-Muslim entrance, except on a selective and very limited basis. For instance, the Waqf does not give any observers access inside the vast subterranean rooms, from which many antiquities have been removed.

We demand the preservation and respect of the Temple Mount. Only full access and complete transparency for all parts of the Temple Mount can prevent further abuse and destruction of this site which has been venerated throughout history.

Follow Up: Jerusalem Jews Up in Arms Over Shofar Incident

Police: The shofar-blower we stopped at the 'small Western Wall' area had already completed his prayers. Eye-witnesses: A pure lie; the police dragged him away in the middle of his prayers.

As reported here yesterday, 20-year-old Eliyahu Kleiman was in the middle of blowing the shofar during the silent Amidah prayer, in accordance with Sephardic custom, when several policemen arrived, took his shofar, and began dragging him away. They also "brutally tore off the prayer-shawls of the other worshippers," according to one of the participants in the service, "and started pushing and beating them."

The police response to the events of Rosh HaShanah at the Kotel HaKatan (Small Wall, pictured above) in the Old City of Jerusalem is: They didn't happen.

Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmulik Ben-Ruby told Arutz-7 that the shofar-blower was not in the middle of prayers and "had already blown long enough" when he was ordered to stop. When confronted with the fact that many eye-witnesses say he was clearly in the middle of prayers when he was stopped and dragged away, Ben-Ruby insisted that his version was the correct one - but agreed to "check again."

Gays get to march through the Holy City. Muslims can dictate Jewish presence on our Temple Mount and now this:

Man Arrested for Blowing Shofar at Western Wall
Arutz Sheva

Shades of the 1920's: A Jewish man was hauled off to the Old City police station in the middle of prayer for sounding the shofar during Rosh HaShanah services at the area known as the Kotel HaKatan.

The incident occurred around 7:30 in the morning, at the northern-most section of the accessible Western Wall - a little-known area called the Kotel HaKatan, the Small Wall. It is considered to have extra sanctity, as it stands opposite the presumed spot of the Holy of Holies of the Beit HaMikdash.

Yesterday morning (Sunday), a group of some 10 men and two women gathered at the site, as they have done for several years on Rosh HaShanah, for early-morning prayers. The holiday prayers feature the blowing of the shofar (ram's horn) at several different times. Towards the end of the first shofar sounding, a Border Guard policeman came in, made an unclear motion with his hand as if to ask what was going on, and then left. He said nothing.

Shortly afterwards, Eliyahu K., the 20-year-old prayer leader, blew the shofar a second time, in the midst of his silent prayer (in accordance with Sephardic custom). Policemen came in once again and began trying to pull him away. However, Eliyahu was in the midst of reciting the Amidah - a long passage during which one must stand in one place without moving - and he therefore did not move.

The policemen informed their supervisors by radio that he was praying and refused to move, and reinforcements were soon sent - no fewer than 20 policemen, according to several witnesses.

They then started dragging him out, and when they stopped for a moment, he got up and resumed his prayers. They then began to drag him away again, and shortly afterwards again stopped for a moment - and again he resumed his prayers. At this point, the policemen allowed him to complete his prayers.

In the meanwhile, the other members of the prayer group came out and tried to prevent the policemen from taking Eliyahu away. At this point, the policemen started swinging their clubs violently; no one was hospitalized, but "it was a big brawl," in the words of one witness, with many people being dragged around and beaten while wearing their prayer-shawls and Sabbath suits.

Meanwhile, Eliyahu was taken to the small police station at the Western Wall plaza, and several of his friends followed him there. They wanted to go up the steps into the police station, and demanded that at least the shofar be returned, but the police again came down with their clubs.

They finally took Eliyahu by foot, accompanied by his fianc×™e, all the way around the Old City, past Mt. Zion and through Jaffa Gate, to the Kishle police station inside Jaffa Gate. At this point, there was no longer any violence, and Eliyahu was released around 11:30 - after being charged with attacking a policeman, disturbing a policeman in the line of duty, and disturbing the public order.

One witness related, "It's not only that they stopped him from blowing the shofar, but rather the fact that the police beat us up very harshly. I was on my way to the Wall for prayers when I saw 5-7 policemen going with Eliyahu and protecting him very closely. I walked after them, and then a few of his friends came, and then the violence started. We asked the policemen to return the shofar, and they started kicking us and punching us."

The worshipers said that the police had apparently been called by an Arab woman who said the sound of the ram's horn disturbed her children.

A Jewish resident of the Old City told Arutz-7, "How ironic. The loud Arab weddings and nightly prayers by the muazzin [over a powerful loudspeaker] at 4:30 AM disturb our sleep every night." Similar complaints are heard from Jews living near Arab villages in Judea and Samaria.

A member of the Jerusalem Police spokesman's office, contacted by Arutz-7 for a statement on the matter and asked whether this signified a new policy towards shofar-blowing at the Wall, said, "When we have an answer for you, I will get back to you."

The head of the local council of the Jewish Quarter of the Old City, Shmuel Yitzchaki, could not be reached for comment by the time of this report.

The rabbi of the Western Wall, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, told Arutz-7, "This is a very grave incident, and I have asked the local police commander, Yossi Priente, to check into it - both the violence and the prevention of the shofar blowing. It reminds us of the days of the British Mandate when Jews [had to make] super-human efforts to blow the shofar at the Western Wall."

He was referring to the 1ate 1920's, when the British, in an attempt to appease the Arabs, and following violence at the Wall, forbade shofar-blowing at the Wall. In one famous incident in 1929, a man named Moshe Segal blew the shofar at the conclusion of Yom Kippur - and was immediately arrested by the British. Though he had fasted for the previous 25 hours, the British detained him without food until midnight, when he was released. It was later reported that the release came about when then-Chief Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook informed the commander that he himself would not eat until Segal was released.

Nearly 40 years later, following the first Yom Kippur service at the Wall under Israeli sovereignty, shortly after the Six Day War, the shofar was again sounded - by Moshe Segal.

Birkas Kohanim - Points to remember

Loosen your laces before you wash your hands.

Washing must be done up to the wrist.

You must ascend to duchan when the shelach tzibor starts “Retzei.” If he finishes the bracha then you cannot go up.

The Kohanim do not say "Am Kidushecha K'amor" at the beginning (Mishna Berura 128:38

We turn to the RIGHT only.

We are forbidden to look at our own hands when we pronounce the blessing.

We swing our hands only on words that end in "chah" (eg. yiverechiCHAH, v'yishmereCHAH, Vi'chuneKAH, etc.) as well as the word Shalom.

We swing from left to right.

If the mechitza is on the side please make sure you swing your hands to cover the women as well. People standing behind the Kohanim, even if they are not directly behind, but behind them toward the side, are not included in the blessing. This is often neglected.

We keep our hands outstretched until we have turned around.

We stay on the bima until Kaddish is over.

If people say Yashar Koach to you do NOT respond Baruch T'heyeh (Shulchan Aruch 128:17, Ramah and Mishnah Berura).

We wash our hands without a brocho if we touch our shoes.

Jerusalem's gay pride parade to be held November 10

Jerusalem's gay pride parade will take place on November 10, a High Court panel ruled Monday. The panel was headed by Supreme Court President Dorit Beinisch and also included Justices Dvorah Berliner and Miriam Naor. The parade, which had been set for early August, was postponed due to the Lebanon war.

The organization planning the parade, Open House, suggested to police six dates for the parade, all of them before Rosh Hashana. Police did not respond to its petitions, effectively supplying a "negative response de facto" according to the group. Open House then petitioned police to force it to provide security for the parade, and the City of Jerusalem to advertise it in road signs at the city's entrance and on the city's website.

Me: Suggestions wanted as to how we can combat this. Jews, Christians and Muslims should be united on this point and speak out. Help save the Holy City from desecration!

Glengarry Glen Jihad

Today Alec Baldwin had this to say bout Mr. Tom Cruise:

I think what's been done to Tom is kind of silly. I don't really understand Tom's religious beliefs; nor do I want to. All I know is I don't see people who are disciples of Tom's faith driving planes into the World Trade Center. When Scientologists start crashing planes into the Pentagon, then I think we should sit Tom down and have a grand jury talk to him. In the meantime, let's just leave him alone."

Christianity vs. Islam. It's on.

DUBAI (Reuters) - An Iraqi militant group led by al Qaeda vowed a war against the "worshippers of the cross" in response to a recent speech by Pope Benedict on Islam that sparked anger across the Muslim world.

"We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya," said an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq's branch of al Qaeda.

"We shall break the cross and spill the wine. ... God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. ... God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen," said the statement.

It was posted on Sunday on an Internet site often used by al Qaeda and other militant groups.

Pope Benedict said on Sunday he was deeply sorry Muslims had been offended by his use of a Mediaeval quotation on Islam and violence. The remarks outraged Muslims and triggered protests and attacks on churches in several Arab towns.Another militant group in Iraq, Ansar al-Sunnah, also vowed to fight Christians in retaliation.

"You will only see our swords until you go back to God's true faith Islam," it said in a separate Internet statement.Al Qaeda in Iraq and other militant groups have staged suicide bombings and killings of foreign forces and members of the U.S.-allied government and security forces. (via Little Green Footballs)

Al Qaeda in Iraq warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that its war against Christianity and the West will go on until Islam takes over the world, and Iran's supreme leader called for more protests over the pontiff's remarks on Islam. (From Fox News)

Me: The whole situation would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

Killing an elderly nun and bombing churches isn't really the most effective way to show the Pope that your prophet and religion aren't violent.

Tt's truly laughable that this German Pope would point his shriveled finger at any other faith as Catholicism, by far, has more blood on it's hands than any other religion.

the Catholics are no longer murdering and torturing. They do not blow up pizzerias, shoot up schools or suicide bomb. Something to think about.

Yahrtzeit of the Holy Chafetz Chaim

Reb Yisrael Meir HaKohain Kagan of Radin, author of Chafetz Chaim, Mishnah Berurah and Shmiras HaLashon, (1838-1933)

As a 9-year-old boy, he entered the yeshiva in Vilna. After marrying at 17 years of age, he continued his Torah studies, in spite of extreme poverty, spending every waking moment engrossed in the holy books. The Chofetz Chaim who refused to accept a post as rabbi, opened a general store. His wife, insisting that he continue his Torah studies, managed the store. In 1869 he founded the Yeshivah of Radin. When he was 35 (1873) he published his first book, "Chafetz Chaim" - "Shmiras Haloshon", a compilation of the laws concerning loshon hara - forbidding gossip and slander, lessons in using ones speech constructively . He ultimately published over 20 books. Some important ones are Ahavas Chessed (Love of Kindness) on the mitzvah of lending money, Machaneh Yisroel (The Jewish Camp) for Jews serving in non-Jewish armies, and Nidchei Yisroel (The Scattered of Israel) for Jews who moved to places where there were few religious Jews, particularly America. Probably the most important book he wrote was the Mishna Berurah, a six volume commentary on Shulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim, which deals with the general laws of daily conduct, such as prayers, tefillin, blessings, Shabbat, and Festivals. It consists of 6 volumes and took 25 years to complete. (from

The Prohibition of Communicating Lashon Hara

And finally, I once again add these words...

Excerpts of a letter by the Chafetz Chaim:

…Presently it is difficult to find Kohanim who know the laws and practices of the Temple Service fully. How disheartening and embarrassing. It sadly indicates that our prayers for the Temple and the Service are merely lip service, not real or heartfelt. For if we really desired it to come, we would prepare and make ready for it.

Therefore my brothers, it is incumbent upon us to…further the knowledge of the Temple and its Service. Particularly the Kohanim and the Levites, who are most directly involved in this Torah Mitzvah, for they will be the first to be asked, “why didn’t you prepare for the Temple Service?”

My Nightmare Last Night

Last night I dreamt that Mashiach had been revealed and was a young lady. People came from all over to sit at her feet and soak in her wisdom. Then, quite suddenly, she started talking about "Anu and Anil" which were supposedly Canaanite gods. She was preaching avoda zara and praising the gods of the sun and the moon.

I was very upset and left. I knew the real redeemer was this other woman who radiated light and kedusha. I waited for her but she was late. I was then taken by a messenger to a building that was called "The Museum of the Middle East." I wanted to enter but the messenger said I was too late and then proceeded to walk in with the woman, the true redeemer who had finally shown up.

I was then walking back home when the sky became like dusk. It was overcast and ominous. The ground started to shake and I said: "It has begun" or something to that effect. Then the plants and bushes turned to maggots and worms and started devouring people who were in torturous pain. I knew that it was the beginning of the end.

This Sunday night in the Los Angeles area: The first of (hopefully) many classes for Kohanim and Leviim.

The Arab and Iranian Reaction to 9/11

“When the twin towers collapsed… My lungs filled with air and I breathed in relief, as I had never breathed before."

-'Ali 'Uqleh 'Ursan, Syrian Arab Writers Association chairmanAl-Usbu' Al-Adabi (Damascus) September 15, 2001

Since the attacks on September 11, 2001, The Middle East Media Research Institute has monitored, translated, and recorded what was said in the Arab and Iranian press about that day. Prominent journalists, members of academia, leading religious figures, and even Arab government officials helped shape conspiracies about what "really" happened.

The carefully documented collection is now available as a PDF and includes a compilation of articles and editorials from the mainstream Arabic and Persian language press, as well as transcripts from television programs.

A documentary film about the Arab and Iranian reaction to 9-11 incorporates footage from various TV and satellite stations in the Middle East. It was made with Interface Media Group and narrated by acclaimed actor Ron Silver.

Please scroll down to see my memorial page for Derrick Arthur Green victim of Islamic Terror. He, and thousands of other blameless Americans, were murdered on US soil by those who value death and destruction over life and creation.

Derrick died needlessly. And yet I am amazed that there are some who still refuse to see the clear difference between good and evil in this world.

Derrick was good. And the world is less with his absence.

Derrick Arthur Green - Baruch Dayan HaEmes

Proud contributor of the 2,996: A Tribute to the Victims of 9/11

It is with great honor that I post this memorial for a wonderful man who lost his life so tragically and needlessly.

I would like to introduce you to Derrick Arthur Green AKA "Pops."

Derrick lost his life on September 11, 2001.

The New York Times wrote this about Derrick:

Derrick Arthur Green: Dispenser of Joy

With a shake of a shoulder and a laugh, Pops could lift just about any spirit, in the Edenwald section of the Bronx or back home in Kingston, Jamaica. He would share a reggae song with his 12 godchildren, or with friends at the D&B Auto Repair and Diagnostic Center over a beer and a fish. His laughter even warmed 2 World Trade Center, where on the 85th floor he last practiced the drywaller's art.

Many in his wide circle never knew his name was Derrick Arthur Green. It was just Pops, the 44-year-old man whose reply to anger was to smile and say, in properly clipped Jamaican English, "Just leave that out, mon. Come, let's go." The next minute everyone was smiling.
He laughed away the rough patches of 10 immigrant years courting his wife, Melrose, settling in enough to marry in 1995 and make a life for them on Amundson Avenue. Weekend evenings, on visits with the family of his "second mother" — Cynthia Edwards, an old friend from his Jamaica days — he was likely at some point to jump up from his chair and, along with a favorite Bob Marley tape, sing: "One love, one heart. Let's get together and feel all right." And they always did.

Others had this to say about Pops:

I met Pops in 1977 on the job where one of his best friends Eddie was my co-worker. He was a true friend and a hard worker. Pops never had anything bad to say about anyone. When my mariage was falling apart Pops would visit me every Sunday to make sure I was o.k. I could not have had a better marriage counselor. He was a true friend and he will be missed by everyone whose lives he had touched. My condolences to his wife and mother and the rest of his family. I know that I will never be able to come to terms with the fact that I will never hear his voice again or the sound of his laughter. God bless you Pops for all that you have done for me.

Patricia Wright (Springfield Garden, NY )

Uncle Pops was what i called him, he was a man of fun and games. My brother was his first godson and he used to always take us shopping even when our mother told him not to. He loved us as if we were his own. From what I remember of him I never saw him get angry, I never heard him say no to us (which was a good thing in our eyes). I miss him and may God bless him and his family. I love you Uncle Pops. Rest in Peace.

Shari (Ft. Lauderdale, FL )

I remember "Pops" as a great friend someone who loved to laugh. The most patient, kind, giving, generous person I have ever known, the one thing everyone who knew POPS can attest to is that he gave of himself, sometimes to much, we thought, but that was just him. My son was his first Godson, and he loved him dearly along with the other children. He would spoil them, despite my protest, he would always say "They are kids let them enjoy themselves man. I still have not been able to remove his numbers from my phone book, because I guess that would really bring the point home that he is actually gone, and I guess I am not ready to let go and forget. For the Twenty-three years I knew you, you were always a true friend, the legacy you have left behind will live on forever. REST IN PEACE BROTHER......

Sharon (FL )

Pops, I don't know if you were Jewish, Christian or Muslim. I don't know if you were rich or poor, tall or short. All I know is you were my brother, a fellow American and human being who did not need to forfeit his life.

The world became dark on that tragic morning. It was hijacked by people who value death over life and hatred over peace. They set out knowingly and willingly to murder innocents like yourself, but know this... you did not die in vain. Your good deeds and pleasant countenance continue on after you and you are remembered for a blessing.

May Hashem lift your soul to the highest of heavens and may you find rest and peace.

Call to World Jewry: Have You Heard of the Iranian Threat?

Via Arutz Sheva

Sha'ul Schiff, veteran columnist for Israel's daily HaTzofeh newspaper, makes an impassioned plea to world Jewry to wake up to Iran's threat to destroy Israel.

Excerpts from Schiff's recent column:

"...Yes, I plead guilty to being slightly hysterical about the Iranian danger. [Here's why:] The problem with Iran is that its president, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, has declared, and continues to declare, openly in his speeches to his nation – and that's what's important – that his eyes are raised towards destroying the State of Israel... Iran, as is known, arms Hizbullah with advanced weapons and much money and trains its terrorists. But this is the small change.

"Iran is advancing with giant steps towards the manufacture of a nuclear bomb, and there are countries, among them Russia, that are helping Iran realize this dream - for money and for ideological (anti-Semitic) reasons. If an atom bomb is used against us, there won't be anyone left to demand a parliamentary commission of inquiry, nor to check why Israel did not take the necessary courageous steps against this evil.

"We experienced the dreadful Holocaust in which six million Jews were destroyed in this very generation – yet it appears that we have learned nothing. Warnings to the world by Rabbi Weissmandel and others during the Holocaust about what was happening to Hungarian Jewry went unanswered.

"We ask: Where is the entire Jewish leadership in the U.S. and Europe? Why is it not raising its voice all over the world, in all the Parliaments and all the governments, and recruiting public opinion against Ahmedinejad's insanity? ... On whom are they relying? On George Bush?!

"As of this moment, Iran is out-maneuvering the US, and does not appear very concerned about the sanctions threatened to be imposed upon her. And as far as Europe goes, let it be said as clearly as possible: Europe has largely remained the same Europe of the Holocaust period, and has no interest in clashing with Iran because of the Jews, and has so far done nothing more than pay lip service. And has anyone heard from the 'Holy See' on this matter? And does anyone think he can trust the wicked Kofi Annan (the one responsible for the mass murders in Rwanda)?

"Public opinion in the US has the ability to awaken public opinion in other continents; I wouldn't give up on the millions of Evangelicals in the US, and other friends of Israel wherever they are.

"Iran has coldly and clearly announced that it is working towards Israel's destruction – where are the masses of rabbis in the U.S. and Europe? Where are the children of Holocaust survivors? Are they trusting Amir Peretz, whose greatness we saw in the recent war? After all, under the influence of [his fellow Laborites], he wouldn't order any military action that might hurt innocent citizens in Tehran…

"Neither has any prominent academic or cultural personality in the West expressed any protest against Ahmedinejad's call to destroy Israel.

"Please, let us not sit with our hands folded. This is a genuine madman, backed by extremist religious Shiite leadership. As Rabbi Weissmandel wrote during the Holocaust, 'Our brother Jews, so accustomed to self-sacrifice, are not even sacrificing themselves to break down the gates of kings and ministers. Is there any real excuse for this?'"

Interesting four part essay

It is a Mitzva to Attempt to Offer Sacrifices at This Time

by Mr. Shlomo Moshe Scheinman
with the response of the head of The Temple Institute, Rabbi Israel Ariel [Shlita]

And with the response of the head of the Ben Yishai Institute, Rabbi Dovid Bar-Chaim [Shlita]
And with the response of Rabbi Moshe Yechiel Tzuriel [Shlita], author of Otzrote Haraaya and many additional books

There is a precedent in the history of our nation for the offering of Sacrifices upon an altar on the Temple Mount at a time that the Temple is not built.

In chapter 3 of the book of Ezra we learn:
And the seventh month arrived and the children of Israel were in the cities and the nation gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem. And Yeshua the son of Yotzadak arose, and his brothers the cohanim (priests, who are the descendants of Aaron) and Zerubbavel the son of She'alti'el and his brothers, built the altar of the Lord of Israel to offer upon it burnt offerings as it is written in the Torah of Moses the man of the Lord. And they set the altar on its bases, during [a time] with dread upon them from the nations of the lands ; and they offered burnt offerings upon it to Hashem, burnt offerings for the morning and for the evening. And they made the holiday of Succot as it is written and offered the daily burnt offerings by number according to the regulation of each day in its day. And afterwards the daily [tamid ] offering and at the times of the new moon offerings and at the times of the sacred appointed seasons of Hashem and for all who would offer a free will offering to Hashem. From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings to Hashem and the foundation of the Heichal of Hashem [the holiest building within the Temple Mount] was not yet laid. And they gave money to the stonecutters and the craftsmen and food and drink and oil to those of Tsidon and those of Tsor to bring cedar trees from the Levanon to the sea of Yafo in accordance with the official permission of Coresh, the king of Paras [Persia] upon them.

The book , Torat Habayit, volume 1 chapter 6 section 7, brings in the name of the Kaftor VaPherach that in the sixth millennium [more than 1100 years after the destruction of the Second Temple] we also tried to offer sacrifices, even though at that time the control of the Temple Mount was in the hands of the Gentiles and there was no Temple there.

To quote the Kaftor VaPherech sixth chapter [page 15] :My teacher, my rabbi Boruch Z.L., said to me that Rabbeinu Chananel [according to Rabbi Bar-Chaim it should be Yechiel and not Chananel] from Paris Z.L. sought to come to Jerusalem and he was in year 17 of the sixth millennium and he sought to offer sacrifices in this time. And I, because I was burdened, did not ask him, what shall we do about our Tuma, [ our state of ritual impurity] , and where is a cohain [a descendant of Aaron] with the proper proof of his lineage and fitness. I in the midst of my traveling recalled the Halacha that one should not be concerned about the Tuma [our state of ritual impurity] as said in Temura, Yesh B'korbanot..... That sacrifices of the community push away Tuma and Shabbat. And so too, in tractate Pesachim in the chapter Keitzad Tzolin; if the congregation became Ta'may [spiritually impure] etc., they should do it in a state of impurity; and in tractate Yoma, first chapter, it was taught : The Tuma [the spiritual impurity] that emanates from the dead, Rav Nachman said it is permissible among the community; Rav Sheshet said it is pushed away by the community. And so too, in the laws of Biat Mikdash (chapter 4 , halacha 10 ) in the Rambam's writings and here is a quote " All the sacrifices of the community , it is fixed for them a time, therefore they push away Shabbat and Tuma"(this is to be understood in reference to Tuma that emanates from the dead, alone).

Upon this, the book, Torat Habayit, adds "And since he did not mention at all , that you need a Tzeetz [ a metallic plate worn by the Cohain Hagadol that upon it, were the words, Holy to Hashem] to appease , in regards to the pushing away of the Tuma [spiritual impurity] as recounted by Rambam [there in halacha 9], this implies that he held that even when there is no Tzeetz to appease ,it does not hold back the sacrificial service; and we shall merit in our days to offer our obligatory sacrifices in our Temple, in the place of the divine presence of our Lord in Mount Moriah where there, Yitzchak [Isaac] our forefather, was bound to be offered as an unblemished offering and to atone over all our sins".

The author of the Chafetz Chaim and Mishna Brura established as halacha [in Likutei Halachot, Zevach Toda] and his words are brought by Torat Habayit , the following point :

And we Sacrifice, even though there is no Temple, etc.; so rules the Rambam and so ruled all the Rishonim. And in Torat Hakodshim chapter 13 Hashochet Vihamaaleh [Zevachim page 66b] he wrote:

One that offers up a sacrifice in this time, outside of the proper place is guilty; for when the city of Jerusalem was chosen that there should be there the Temple and the altar , all the bamot [altars outside the sanctified area] were made forbidden and never again, will they be permissible, even though all has been destroyed, and we offer at this time sacrifices, even though there is no Temple; and we eat kodshim kalim [holy foods of a lighter degree] and the second tithe, within the whole city even though there is no wall; because the initial holiness of which the city and the Temple were sanctified by, sanctified these places for its time and for the future. And all this, is when the altar is built upon its place, however when there is no altar, it is obvious that one should not offer there any sacrifice and even the second tithe, one does not eat within the whole city when there is no altar.... And he added in Zevach Toda and even though we concluded inside, that we offer sacrifices in this time even though there is no Temple, nevertheless one has to consider carefully concerning the other requirements [ for sacrifices] such as the place of the altar, and the Tuma that emanates from the dead, and the Tzeetz, and whether we should rely on the presumption that our cohanim are fit cohanim and also regarding the Techelet [threads that were dyed blue]. And if Hashem helps us , we will explain every detail by its place. [Here ends the quote]

Upon this, adds the book, Torat Habayit:And from the implications of his words, you see that our Rabbi was not in doubt as to the main principle and the mitzva and the obligation that we are obligated to offer sacrifices, therefore it is a mitzva to study in depth and to act in the matter of offering sacrifices at this time until we actually get this done, and we should not keep ourselves idle from this great mitzva. And regarding what our Rabbi raised concerning the question of Tuma [spiritual impurity] and other points, already many good people, have judged the matter; and they have concluded and offered solutions to the vast majority of the details of the mitzvas and the only thing lacking for us is the will and the opening of blind eyes to take out the prisoner from the jail, as if possible to describe it thusly, the divine presence in exile.

Why I am no longer a Democrat II

A bloated air bag. AKA Michael Moore.

Iraqi group uses Michael Moore film to mock Bush

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - An Iraqi militant group has produced an elaborate video of what it said were attacks on U.S. troops, in the latest example of the increasingly sophisticated propaganda war being waged by Iraqi insurgents.

"The Code of Silence" was posted on the Internet by the Rashedeen Army, thought to be a relatively small Sunni group which has produced videos in the past of attacks it claims to have carried out.

At almost an hour in length, it is the longest and most professionally made of recent postings by mainly Sunni militant and insurgent groups fighting the U.S.-backed government.

The U.S. military said earlier this week that recent intelligence indicated al Qaeda in Iraq was refining its strategy by producing propaganda and adding a political base to its violent campaign of suicide bombings.

Lifting scenes from Michael Moore's anti-war film "Fahrenheit 9/11," Rashedeen's narrator taunts President Bush in softly spoken English over graphic images of Humvees being blown up by roadside bombs, and purportedly dead U.S. troops.

It was not possible to verify when the documentary was made or the authenticity of any of the images portrayed by Rashedeen, whose name means Army of the Rightly Guided.
At one point, the documentary cuts to a scene from Moore's 2004 award-winning film where he lobbies on the steps of the U.S. Congress in Washington.

"After all, there are honest and influential guys in America and if Mr Moore can talk to you like that, so can I," the Rashedeen narrator says.

Attacks on Jews soar since Lebanon

BRITISH Jews are facing a wave of anti-Semitic attacks prompted by Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon. Synagogues have been daubed with graffiti, Jewish leaders have had hate-mail and ordinary people have been subjected to insults and vandalism.

On Thursday an all-party parliamentary inquiry will state that anti-Semitic violence has become endemic in Britain, both on the streets and university campuses. The report will call for urgent action from the Government, the police and educational establishments.

Mark Gardner, of the Community Security Trust, said: “In July, when the conflict in Lebanon began, we received reports of 92 incidents, which was the third-worst month since records began in 1984.” In 2000 the monthly average was between 10 and 30 incidents.

The former minister Denis MacShane, who chaired the parliamentary inquiry, said: “These figures confirm the evidence given to us that anti-Semitic attacks are a very real problem.”
The Board of Deputies of British Jews submitted evidence to the inquiry that anti-Semitism in Britain was at its worst level.

The July incidents “were more dispersed than usual”, Mr Gardner said. “It is usually a small number responsible for a large number of attacks, but these were very widespread across the country and included graffiti attacks on synagogues in Edinburgh and Glasgow.”

The attackers, when visible, are from across society, he said. “When it’s verbal abuse, it’s just ordinary people in the street, from middle-class women to working-class men. All colours and backgrounds. We hardly ever see incidents involving the classic neo-Nazi skinhead. Muslims are over-represented.”

Nuke Iran?

Michael Coren says we should.

We should nuke Iran
Via Toronto Sun

It is surely obvious now to anybody with even a basic understanding of history, politics and the nature of fascism that something revolutionary has to be done within months -- if not weeks -- if we are to preserve world peace.

Put boldly and simply, we have to drop a nuclear bomb on Iran.
Not, of course, the unleashing of full-scale thermo-nuclear war on the Persian people, but a limited and tactical use of nuclear weapons to destroy Iran's military facilities and its potential nuclear arsenal. It is, sadly, the only response that this repugnant and acutely dangerous political entity will understand.

The tragedy is that innocent people will die. But not many. Iran's missiles and rockets of mass destruction are guarded and maintained by men with the highest of security clearance and thus supportive of the Tehran regime. They are dedicated to war and, thus, will die in war.
Frankly, it would be churlish of the civilized world to deny martyrdom to those who seem so intent on its pursuance. Most important, a limited nuclear attack on Iran will save thousands if not millions of lives.

What do Liberals and Neturei Karta have in common besides mental illness?

Jews Who Hate the Jewish State

"If they [Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide."
– Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Hizbullah commander

"I say this without fear: for those who believe in freedom and dignity, we are all Hizbullah now." – Norman Finkelstein, Jewish anti-Zionist

That any human being could proclaim his support for a movement whose goal is to annihilate all the world's Jews must be shocking to the normal observer. That a Jew could take this position seems all the more astounding.

Yet Norman Finkelstein, university professor and best-selling author, is by no means unique among Jews in his allegiances. His mentor, Noam Chomsky, has publicly embraced the murderous Sheikh Nasrallah. In fact, during the recent war, Chomsky was among several Jewish signatories to an open letter offering "solidarity and support" to the "resistance" in Lebanon and Palestine – meaning Hizbullah and Hamas. And these pledges of loyalty to genocidal fanatics have become quite common among Jews who distinguish themselves by their hatred for Israel.

How is it possible for any Jew to support those who seek the destruction of his fellow Jews? This is the question that intrigued Edward Alexander and myself as we compiled our book The Jewish Divide Over Israel.

Our contributors – including Cynthia Ozick, Alvin Rosenfeld, Menachem Kellner, Jacob Neusner and Efraim Karsh – were all too aware of the tragic history of Jewish anti-Semitism. We knew, for example, that Martin Luther's program of terrorizing Jews originated with a Jewish convert, Johannes Pfefferkorn; and that the myth of the Jewish world-conspiracy, which culminated in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, was assiduously promoted by a Russian Jewish author, Jacob Brafmann. We suspected that as the Pfefferkorns and the Brafmanns departed the stage, the Finkelsteins and the Chomskys made their entrance.

Today, as in the past, the conduct of Jews who despise their own people spans the full spectrum of political depravity. There are anti-Zionist Jews who peddle vicious libels about Israel. There are anti-Zionist Jews who compare the Jewish state with Nazi Germany. There are anti-Zionist Jews who support the PLO, Hamas or Hizbullah.

There are anti-Zionist Jews who collaborate with anti-Semites and Holocaust deniers. There are anti-Zionist Jews who defend suicide bombings, anti-Zionist Jews who support the destruction of Israel, and – incredibly – there are even anti-Zionist Jews who advocate measures against other Jews that could plausibly be described as genocidal.
