Zevachim 054: "The Location of the Beis HaMikdash"

Interesting assessment of the actual location of the bais hamikdash: http://www.templemount.org/ The theory is that the dome of the rock is not where the bais hamikdash stood. Rather, it stood somewhat south of there -- opposite the kotel.
This also agrees with what the Arizal writes, that the nations never built on the holy site.
