A Sad State

No Go Yet for National-Religious Unification

MK Chanan Porat, a former NRP Knesset Member and a National Union founder, says the rabbis must become more actively involved in removing the disputes blocking a merger between the two parties.

Speaking with Arutz-7's Yigal Shok on Thursday, Porat - himself a rabbi and Torah scholar - said, "The argument over who will head the party is that which is currently holding up the unification. The claims that the issues revolve around 'difficulties in formulating the agenda,' and the Land of Israel's weight in the agenda, are merely spins for the media."

NRP sources have claimed that the National Union is placing too much emphasis on the struggle for the Land of Israel [Eretz Yisrael] for their taste, and that the NRP wishes to give more prominence to social and educational issues.

Me: Keep bickering. You'll have plenty of time to resolve issues when you're living in Islamic Palestine (Ch'VS).

I don't see what the big deal is with the unification of mafdal, tkuma(ex-mafdal people), tzionut datit(ex-mafdal people), and moledet. Moledet isn't even a religious party. I won't vote for mafdal, and there is doubt that they even pass the threshold if they go it alone. Why is the mafdal acting as if 'ichud leumi' has to compromise.

And frankly, what's the big deal about 9-10 seats that will sit in the oppositio. (oy vavoy if they join likud or sharon).

So the only true candidate seems Marzel becasue then your conscience will be clean. The usual people will accuse you of throwing away your vote, to which I'll reply that whoever voted mafdal and ichud leumi threw away their vote last time as well.
